The seminar "JAQH2: Innovation in the Energy Transition" connected, this Tuesday (29), specialists from the sector, representatives from institutions, companies, and public and private leaders from the nautical sector at Marina da Glória (RJ), during the Rio Boat Show programming.
Promoted by Náutica Group, Itaipu Parquetec, and JAQ Green Hydrogen, the meeting held at the main pavilion of the event highlighted the role of technological innovation and sustainability in building a new energy model for Brazil, with a special focus on the use of green hydrogen in nautical mobility. The event opened space for two thematic panels that discussed the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition and the strategic role of the naval and nautical industry in the context of COP30.
The first panel brought together specialists from different regions of the country, who debated Sustainable Nautical Mobility: hydrogen and the path to decarbonization. Moderated by the manager of the Itaipu Parquetec Hydrogen Technologies Center, Daniel Cantane, the conversation addressed the advances in research and development of green hydrogen in Brazil, the challenges of infrastructure for its application in the nautical sector, and the perspectives for adoption in vessels and cooperation among public, private, and scientific institutions to accelerate the energy transition and drive sustainable solutions with scale and economic viability.
Among the panelists were the representative from the Innovation and Research area of FINEP, Paulo José Pereira de Resende; the superintendent of the Brazilian Hydrogen Association (ABH2), Gabriel Lassery; the Productivity and Innovation analyst from the New Economy and Green Industry Unit of ABDI, Samy Kopit Moschovitch; the ESG & Stakeholders manager of GWM, Thiago Sugahara; the representative of the Energy Research Company (EPE), Vitor Manuel do Espírito Santo Silva; and the Market Relations coordinator of Embrapii, Fábio Cavalcante.
In the second panel, the Chairman of JAQ Green Hydrogen and president of the Náutica Group, Ernani Paciornik, and the superintendent director of Itaipu Parquetec, Professor Irineu Colombo, addressed energy transition and COP30: challenges and paths for a sustainable future.
With moderation by the CEO of JAQ Green Hydrogen, Cila Schulman, the conversation also included the engineer from the BNDES Electric Energy Department, Mauricio Bernhardt Maciel, and the president of ACOBAR, Eduardo Colunna.
The president of the Náutica Group, Ernani Paciornik, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the commitment to promote a more sustainable and competitive future in the nautical sector. "Advancing in the decarbonization of maritime and river transport is not just a technical or regulatory goal — it is an essential contribution to building a sustainable, innovative, and competitive future. It is in this sense that we decided to build the first low-emission hydrogen-powered vessel," he stated.
The superintendent director of Itaipu Parquetec, Professor Irineu Colombo, highlighted the importance of bringing together science, technology, and sustainability as pillars for the development of cleaner energy solutions with transformative potential for society. "We connect technology, the environment, and development. This is the essence of Itaipu Parquetec, and the JAQH2 seminar is an opportunity to show how innovation can accelerate the energy transition and generate real impact," he highlighted.
